Hope you are all enjoying the holiday's with your family and friend's. We have really been having fun sharing our hairstyling techniques with all of you and hope you have enjoyed them as well.
Pull yourself together fast for Christmas morning with these quick easy style's. We all know there are way to many ugly morning photo's from Christmas past!
1. Side braid. This chic yet fuss-free style works on straight, curly, and second day hair. Simply smooth the hair to one side and begin braiding, then secure with a satin bow or ouch less hair band. Loosen it by holding on to secured end of the braid and running hand's up the braid. This will give it a little undone appearance.
2. Messy top knot. Effortless chic! No need to even comb second second day hair. Use your finger's to rake it back into a high ponytail secure with a band, then back comb ponytail . Next take sections of hair and wrapping around hairband and pinning. You can also pull some piece's down around front hairline to soften up the look. Perfection!
3. High Pony. Comb hair and apply Bb's Grooming Cream sparingly with hands. Section hair off from behind ears across the head, then separate hair on crown and backcomb!! Use brush to lightly go over the back combed section and smooth surface. Pull back into high ponytail and secure with band. Loosen piece's around face for some face framing. Voila fabulous again!
Happy Holiday's!!

Something for the Men! Everything old is new again.
Hopefully all our great male client's have not given up on us! We are dedicating one of our last day's to you. Hopefully this will inspire some new styling ideas or possibly a new cut for this coming Year!
Who is it for
Slicked hair with a side part
Who it is for
This is a hairstyle ideal for men with relatively straight hair as the hair is more likely to sit flat on the head complimenting the hairstyle’s "slick’"shape.
Those with curly hair can straighten or give it a straight blow-dry before commencing styling.
How to style it
Keep the parting straight.
For a wet slicked look: apply Bb's Gellac before parting the hair and then work the product with a comb all through the hair strands.
For a natural matte finish look: Part the hair first, spray some hairspray like Bb's Spray De mode on a brush and gently comb through the top layers of the hair. This will resist flyaway strands.
If you’re after the classic finish like the look popular in both the 1930's and again courtesy of Mad Men, then your product of choice will be Sumowax.
Shoulder length haircut
Who is it for
Any man with long straight hair or managable waves.
How to style it
When styling this look, create texture with a Bb's Surf Spray and Bb's Grooming Cream to eliminate frizz.
The styling for this works best if the hair is one-day old, as scalp’s natural oils assist in the creating texture. Or you can create the look by applying Bb's Texture on wet hair then finger blow dry to get that lived in look finish with Bb's grooming cream to tame any wild hairs.
Slicked back undercut
Who is it for
This hairstyle is great for someone a little more fashion forward. Good for: straight hair & hair that can be straightened
How to style it
Simply add Bb's Sculpting gel or for a firmer hold Bb's Gellac on wet straight hair and comb into place . Both will give you a shiny finish.
For curly hair, add Bb's Straight Blow Dry on wet hair. Then blow dry and follow with flat iron. Finish it off with Sumo wax to hold in place.

Today we picked a style that is perfect for a variety of hair lengths and cuts. It can be done curly, wavy, or straight which leaves you with options.
As far as products and styling tips, we would recommend Bumble and Bumble's Hair Powder for your back combing. Remember, this will add extra grip so your back combing will hold and last longer. If you are going to go the curly or wavy route, Bumble and Bumble's Does It All Hairspray should be used while curling. This will help with holding your curl without giving you a crunchy, sticky feeling or weighing your hair down. Lastly, use Bumble and Bumble's Grooming Creme to tame fly aways and add shine to your classy, elegant look.
Good luck, ladies, and enjoy the season!

Less than a Week Left of Great Hair for the Holidays!
My goodness, the time has been flying by. Christmas is right around the corner. Hopefully you all have been enjoying the Twelve Days of Great Holiday Hair with us and getting some great ideas and tips for your holiday look. Today we decided to go for something smooth, sleek, sexy, and also very classy.
To achieve this look start with freshly washed hair. Mix together Bb's Styling Creme and a few drop's of Bb's Defrizz . This will create a great mix of hold, volume, and shine for a great round brush blow out. If necessary, finish ends with flat iron and tame any fly aways with Bb's Sumo wax (also works great for getting your swoop to stay in place). Until tomorrow, a great hair day to you all!

Do you have annoying static all Winter?
How do you tame annoying static all winter?
Static happens when your hair picks up an electrical charge from the dry air, explains hair doctor Philip Kingsley. “It’s common in the chillier months because the air is less moist everywhere,” he adds. Fight it by switching to a more hydrating shampoo and conditioner for your hair type, then use a tourmaline or ionic hair dryer — they don’t suck out moisture like regular dryers can . If your static persists, try out one of the solutions below, matched to your specific hair texture.
Fine/Straight Hair
Rub Bumble and Bumble defrizz on just the tips of your hair to avoid greasy buildup. Carry a dryer sheet for touch-ups during the day.
Medium/Wavy Hair
Your hair is thick, so it can handle a rich leave in conditioner like Bb's leave in conditioner to lock in moisture tame frizz and beat static. Apply to damp hair before you blow dry.
Hope this has helped make winter a little more bearable!

Ahhhhh.... fall is finally here!
As much as we all love the desert heat, there comes the time every year when you think, "I would give anything for it to be cool enough to wear a sweatshirt!"
Well, it's finally that time. Unpack the sweaters and the hoodies, open the windows, and cook up some comfort food.
While you're at it - how about changing OUT of your comfort zone and add a little seasonal sizzle to your hair?
When's the last time you considered going red? I mean, it's the time for changes, right? Live it up; redheads can get away with SO much attitude!

READY FOR RED?
by Summer Aston
We all like sticking in our comfort zone, maintaining our standard blonde or brunette hair - nervous or scared to try something new, right? Not this time!
As the leaves and weather are changing (well, we wish they were in Arizona), make your personal change by adding some auburn or red to those beautiful locks of hair this fall.
You say RED? Yup. Red.
You may have in mind the bright, warm red; or even the cool, darker and deep reds that glimmer in the light! Our imaginations are limitless when in comes to this appealing color. We see wide ranges of red in celebrities' hair, from Emma Stone and her rich red color, to the natural-looking auburn of Amy Adams, or the vivid and eye-catching Rihanna (if you want to talk bright and spunky!).
No need to worry! At Adorn, the hairstylists and colorists are professionally trained, and are perfectionists you can trust! Bring in a picture, or even use our precise color swatches to let us know exactly what you want (don't worry, we won't bite!).
Now you're probably wondering how you'll keep that red hair long-lasting and fresh until your next visit? I would highly recommend the Bumble and Bumble Color Support Product line and using the True Red shampoo and conditioner (also available for blondes and brunettes in other colors). It will keep your red hair nice and smooth while enhancing the color at the same time. Who wouldn't think this was amazing shampoo and conditioner to use! It is here and available at Adorn Style Lounge.

One of fall's most wanted trends! Coming to Adorn Style Lounge later this week
Fall's most wanted trends, today is all about the eyes. One of the most prominent beauty fads right now, sharply-lined, dramatically-lashed and boldly-browed peepers turned up all over the runways. Intrigued? Let's take a closer look.
The first trend to catch my eye was the '60s-inspired liner displayed at Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs—try a liquid or gel liner to imitate the style—while over at Alexander Wang and Prada, bold brows made an equally impactful impression; draw on your own set of striking brows with one of our great new Brow Shaping Stencils Kits. Of course, I can't not talk about dramatic lashes too, which achieve an unexpected and fresh facade as demonstrated by Gucci and Lanvin. To emulate the trend, I suggest using our new false lash kit with the adhesive included , topped with our Baby Doll Mascara to add extra drama ! We will also be carrying some great smoky eye quads in four colors. Can't makeup your mind with which product to try? Grab them all because you know with our prices you can have it all!

Are you suffering from the heartbreak of trichoptilosis?
Hey there,
Sounds scary, right? Don't worry, it's just the scientific name for split ends. Nearly anyone who uses chemical, thermal or mechanical treatments will get them. That's the bad news.
The GOOD news is, Summer Aston will tell you how to tame your trichoptilosis between trims.

Taming of the Split Ends
by Summer Aston
Did someone say split ends?
As the summer is starting to come to an end, some of us are noticing the after-shock of what it has done to our hair.
You can get split ends just about from anything: curling irons, straighteners, blowdryers, color treatments, as well as brushing your hair, or being in the sun.
With all of the heat and humidity changes around us, it's important to know how to treat your dry, damaged hair.
Let's start off with conditioners.
Split ends tell us that our ends our dry and are in need of moisture. Conditioning your hair regularly will ensure sufficient moisture to your ends and along with that will help detangle the hair so it is less prone to damage while brushing.
So why keep putting your hair through misery? Try using the Bumble and Bumble Quenching or Mending Shampoo and Conditioner that will aid you in the moisture and repair that your hair needs.
In between your regular visits of trimming off those split ends, try different ways of limiting your use of your irons and blow dryers. For instance, letting your hair air-dry more often than usual, or iron every other day rather than every day.
After the end of your style - to keep those ends tamed - try using the Bumble and Bumble Grooming Creme. This light-weight cream will finish your hair off with a healthy, happy polish.

Good Hair Days, Made Easy!
by Cami Fisher
Good hair days start with great hair. Sounds pretty straight forward, right?
Not really.
Many of us suffer the consequences of processed, dull, dry, unprotected hair.
Believe me, I understand. Growing up with three older sisters and a mom on a tight budget, I too used to be an innocent victim - forced to use grocery store hair products such as Suave, V05, and oh yes, Aqua Net!
I never understood how important quality products were, even when hairdressers were pushing me to buy deep conditioners and leave-in protectors. It wasn't until one hairdresser made special trips to the beauty supply to pick up a product, that I realized she really did want me to have healthy, beautiful hair - which showcased her work and made me feel great!
As I flipped through the latest Elle magazine, I really saw how the media sometimes has created confusion on which products to use. I mean, come on! Do they really expect us to believe Kim Kardashian or Whitney Port are using Tresemme? (That was almost as good as when they thought we believed that Eva Longoria and Beyonce were using box color!! Seriously?)
At this point you may be asking, "What should we use then?" Well now, we are back to square one, and you may find yourself in a salon in front of what seems like thousands of pretty, colored bottles. Don't just reach for the prettiest one, that's how you end up with all those extra products under your sink, which you have no clue what to do with.
JUST ASK US!
Any stylist will be more than happy to educate you on product that best suits your hair type, life style, and desired end results. I can tell you - great healthy hair will begin with nurtured, moisturized hair. Everyone needs a great shampoo and conditioner and eventually three additional products:
* Leave-in protector (will be the foundation to any style, giving moisture along with heat protection)
* A style aid (the style aid will depend on your hair type and desired end result, volume, curl, straightness, etc)
* Finishing product ( such as a smoother, hair spray, or shine spray)
The rest will be up to you and your creativity, expanding with new products and the many different ways we can use them.
And now, I am that hairdresser who really cares about you having healthy, beautiful hair.
I can't wait to see you have a good hair day...everyday!

Breaking Down "SALON SPEAK"
Hey There,
As a salon owner, it's my job to make you feel comfortable and pampered when you come to Adorn Style Lounge.
Recently, a client confessed to me that she didn't understand some of the newer techniques and terminology that salon stylists use, and thought she might be missing out.
I thought this was the perfect opportunity to share industry language, and how you can ask for what is right for you (and the price, too)!
Happy learning!

Demystifying the Terms & Techniques
Stylists casually throw out terms that we assume everyone knows: partial highlight, full highlight, toners, glazes, etc. Even those who give their undying trust in their stylists must wonder, "What?!"
This crash course on the "School of Hair Color Techniques" will not only shed some light on what your hair is going through, but might help you understand pricing menus and make you feel more comfortable for splurging on those extra services. In any case, please know you can always ask how much the service will be! We know this process can be overwhelming, let us help breakdown all of your choices to find your perfect color and when it is time to leave the salon you not only have fabulous hair, but I confident mind-set to match it.
Permanent Hair Color
This is a great option for clients who want to cover grey or go lighter than their natural shade. It also gives your stylist the ability to change your hair color to a variety of shades. But remember, when working with permanent color we are not able to lighten previously colored hair with color.
Demi/Semi Permanent Hair Color
These colors are gentler than permanent color and are perfect for clients that are just being introduced to color. No peroxide or ammonia is used in these formulas. They can help blend grey but not completely cover it; they can not lighten hair but can be used to change tone our add depth to your hair. For example, try some red, or darken and add richness. This service usually lasts around four weeks and is perfect for those with 'commitment issues.'
Single Process, All-Over Color
This method refers to the application of color to your entire head of hair. We can use permanent color or Demi/Semi color. This is great for someone wanting to cover grey and usually requires touch ups every four to six weeks.
Highlights, Lowlights, and Weaves
These techniques create dimension by not coloring every hair. We weave small pieces of your hair and apply product that can lighten (highlight) or darken (lowlight) your hair. This process usually involves foils that keep colored hair separated, protecting the rest of your hair. There are so many different looks you can achieve with weaving, commonly called highlights and lowlights. We usually recommend every seven to ten weeks for touch ups.
Partial versus Full Highlights
A partial highlight pertains to the top section and the sides of the head that are either highlighted our lowlighted, while the underneath portion of the head is not colored. A full highlight means the entire head, from your forehead to the nape of your neck, is highlighted or lowlighted.
Balayage
This coloring method creates a very natural look. We apply color by painting free handed, directly onto hair with no foils to add depth or to lighten. The result is a very low maintenance highlight or lowlight that is very blended and requires fewer visits. Touch-ups are recommended every ten to twelve weeks but can sometimes last much longer.
Double Process: Highlights with an All-Over Color
This service combines all over color with highlights. This gives us the ability to cover grey, lighten or change the shade of existing color while adding multiple tones with highlights. A retouch is recommended every four to five weeks while highlights are retouched every eight to ten weeks.
Toners, Glazes, and Glosses - Oh My!
Toners and glazes are used to balance out the tones and shades of any hair color. They deposit shine and can add color to faded-out ends. A gloss produces the same effect, but is done in clear for just adding shine. These products also can help close down the cuticle, allowing the hair to reflect light.
As the seasons change and summer is just around the corner, the desire for change seems to always be triggered within us. Perhaps this crash course on the "School of Hair Color Techniques" will help give you some inspiration, ideas, and that extra boost of confidence to achieve the look that you want on your next salon visit. We hope this has helped to demystify your color options, we welcome any questions and input from our clients.
